A ceremony filled with Aegean glamour and a touch of Washington power, held for the woman whom the U.S. president publicly praised for her work.

Mykonos is accustomed to hosting glamorous weddings, but the wedding of Alexandra Veletsi and Matthew Guarino had something extra: a distinct White House atmosphere. The Greek-American director of the White House Visitors Office and close associate of Donald Trump chose the “island of the winds” for the most important day of her life, creating a setting that blended Cycladic aesthetics with American formality.

The wedding took place on Thursday, July 16, beneath the iconic windmills of Alefkandra, in a postcard-perfect setting. The small Church of Saint Charalambos was transformed into an elegant, luminous venue, with bright pink bougainvilleas adding vivid color to the all-white landscape. The area took on an almost presidential level of protocol: heightened security measures, restricted traffic, and a discreet presence of staff ensuring that the ceremony ran flawlessly.

The Bride’s Arrival and the Ceremony Under the Aegean Light

Alexandra Veletsi’s arrival was one of the most touching moments of the day. Accompanied by traditional Greek musical instruments, she arrived at the chapel, connecting the cosmopolitan ceremony with her roots. Her white strapless wedding gown gave her a sense of classic elegance, while Matthew Guarino awaited her wearing a white tuxedo jacket with black details, creating a look that balanced formality with modern style.

Around 200 guests attended the ceremony, many holding white parasols to protect themselves from the intense sun. Behind the church, a small bar had been set up with refreshing drinks, creating a relaxed summer atmosphere. The day before, the couple had welcomed friends and relatives at a private pre-wedding party at a well-known entertainment venue on the island.

Who Is Alexandra Veletsi?

Alexandra Veletsi is not simply a Greek-American who has achieved success in the United States. Since January 2025, she has served as director of the White House Visitors Office, a key White House department responsible for public tours, major events, and visitor reception initiatives.

This is not the first time she has held a senior position under Donald Trump. During his first presidential term, she worked in the White House Office of Public Liaison, eventually becoming Director of Operations. She has said that she feels “honored and humbled” to serve the president, the first lady, and the American people once again.

Her role on Trump’s team has also received public recognition. In March 2026, at a White House event celebrating Greek Independence Day, the U.S. president mentioned Alexandra Veletsi by name, praising her for her outstanding work.

Her Greek Heritage and the Choice of Mykonos

The choice of Mykonos was not accidental. Veletsi has a strong connection to her Greek heritage and wanted her wedding to reflect that bond. The Cycladic light, the windmills, the traditional music, and the presence of many Greek friends and relatives created a setting that combined American formality with Greek tradition.

Away from the demanding responsibilities of the White House for a few days, the couple began a new chapter of their lives under the light of the Aegean Sea.
