In a recent social media post, Stavros Grimplas reflected on the changes Mykonos has experienced over the past years, highlighting the efforts that have been made to improve the island’s image, infrastructure, and overall quality of life.
In his message, Grimplas recalled the situation Mykonos faced in 2023, describing a period marked by significant challenges, including increased crime, uncontrolled villa parties, frequent road accidents, theft incidents affecting visitors, waste management issues, recurring wastewater problems in different areas of the island, and concerns regarding roads and public lighting.
According to Grimplas, the current situation has improved noticeably compared to that period, thanks to the work carried out over the past years. However, he emphasized that progress does not mean the work is complete and that continued effort is necessary to address remaining challenges.
He noted that the current municipal administration is only halfway through its term and that daily efforts continue with planning and cooperation, aiming to further improve the island’s appearance and enhance the quality of life for residents and visitors alike.
A key point of his message was the importance of cooperation between the Municipality, local residents, and business owners. Grimplas stressed that creating a safer, cleaner, and more attractive Mykonos requires a shared commitment and a common goal among everyone connected to the island.
Concluding his statement, he emphasized the importance of remembering the difficulties Mykonos has faced while continuing forward with responsibility and determination, working toward the long-term improvement and protection of the island.
