The group is one of Europe’s oldest hospitality operators, with most of its hotels and restaurants located in France and former French colonies.

French hospitality group Barrière is making its first investment in Greece with a new luxury hotel on Mykonos. While the company may not be widely known in Greece, it is a major player in the European hospitality and entertainment sector. Through its subsidiaries Groupe Lucien Barrière and Société Fermière du Casino Municipal de Cannes (SFCMC), the group operates hotels, casinos, restaurants, and entertainment venues across Europe and beyond.

The group’s debut Greek property is the five-star Fouquet’s Mykonos, which carries one of Barrière’s flagship hotel brands. The hotel is scheduled to open in late June near Paraga Beach on Mykonos.

According to available information, this marks the first appearance of the Fouquet’s brand in Greece and only its second island location worldwide. Other Fouquet’s hotels are found in destinations such as New York, Paris, Courchevel, and the Caribbean island of Saint Barthélemy.

The hotel features 61 luxury suites and three exclusive villas, many of which include private pools or panoramic terraces with direct sea views.

The management team has already been assembled. The property will be operated in partnership with Yoda Group, while Barrière Group itself will oversee operations through a management agreement.

Reservations are now open, with room rates reflecting the hotel’s ultra-luxury positioning. Prices start at approximately €1,300 per night for a Junior Suite and rise to €8,250 per night for the Cyclades Suite, which includes a private pool and views over the Aegean Sea.

Founded in 1912

Barrière is one of Europe’s longest-established hospitality groups. Most of its properties—whether hotels, restaurants, or entertainment venues—are located in France and former French territories.

In recent years, the company has expanded the Fouquet’s hotel brand, which originated in Paris and now has locations in New York, Saint Barth, Courchevel, and French destinations such as Deauville and La Baule.

Founded in 1912 by François André, the group is now led by siblings Joy Desseigne-Barrière and Alexandre Barrière, representatives of the family’s fourth generation. Over the years, Barrière has established itself as one of France’s leading luxury hospitality and leisure operators, with a growing international presence.

As of 2026, Barrière operates:

20 luxury hotels under the Barrière Collection
33 casinos and one gaming club under the Barrière Casino brand
Nearly 200 restaurants and bars
Multiple spas and golf courses in sought-after destinations

According to the group, these venues are designed to create integrated experiences that combine hospitality, gastronomy, wellness, entertainment, and culture. Nevertheless, the majority of the company’s revenue continues to come from its casino operations, which are located in destinations such as Cannes, Nice, La Rochelle, and other French cities.

The group currently employs nearly 7,000 people, and reported revenues of approximately €1.5 billion for the fiscal year ending October 31, 2025.
