The leaders of Mykonos Betsson BC, Alekos Angeletakis and Nikos Daktylidis, spoke to mykonosbc.gr about the club’s first-ever European campaign in the group stage of the 2026–27 FIBA Europe Cup, as well as the journey that led to this landmark achievement—one that goes beyond sporting success and has become a point of pride for the entire island of Mykonos.
The joint statement by Angeletakis and Daktylidis reads:
“Mykonos Betsson’s participation in the 2026–27 FIBA Europe Cup is one of the most important milestones in the club’s history and a truly special moment for the entire island of Mykonos.
In just a few years, through hard work, patience, careful planning and unwavering belief in a clear vision, Mykonos Betsson has enjoyed a remarkable rise, progressing from Greece’s national divisions to the European stage. Our debut season in the Stoiximan Greek Basketball League (GBL), qualification for the league playoffs and the Greek Cup Final Eight were key milestones along the way. Our first appearance in European competition is now another major step forward in the club’s continued growth and development.
This achievement belongs to everyone who believed—and continues to believe—in this project. It belongs to our fans, our partners, our players, our coaches and everyone who has worked tirelessly over the years. Above all, it belongs to Mykonos and its people.
Representing both our island and Greece in a European competition is a tremendous honor, but also a great responsibility. We will compete guided by the same values that have brought us this far: humility, consistency, ambition and deep respect for the history we are building together, one step at a time.
