John Theoharis Barbounaras has expressed his heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported and elected him to one of the leading positions on the Board of Directors of the Mykonos Kidney Patients Association.
In a public Facebook post, Barbounaras thanked members and supporters for the trust they placed in him, describing their vote as both a great honor and an even greater responsibility. He emphasized that this confidence strengthens his commitment to continue serving the people of Mykonos and those who rely on the Association’s work.
A central focus of his message was the announcement that Mykonos is expected to soon have its own modern Hemodialysis Unit at the Mykonos Health Center—a development he described as a milestone for the island.
While such a project may appear to many as simply another healthcare investment, Barbounaras highlighted its profound significance for kidney patients and their families. The new unit will allow residents requiring regular dialysis treatment to remain on the island, close to their loved ones, avoiding the physical, emotional, and financial burden of frequent travel for life-sustaining medical care.
He stressed that this achievement belongs to everyone who believed in the effort and supported the long-standing campaign to make the project a reality.
Barbounaras also expressed special gratitude to Abbot Alexios for his dedication and tireless efforts, as well as to Metropolitan Dorotheos for his blessing and continued support. He further thanked the members of the Association, volunteers, and all those who have stood alongside the organization throughout its mission.
Concluding his message, he reaffirmed his commitment to working together with the community toward a Mykonos that cares for its people, emphasizing unity, solidarity, and continued service to those in need.
