Greece’s key role in developing strategies for promoting sustainable tourism was discussed at the 6th Mediterranean Tourism Forum, which was held in Malta on Thursday, ANA reports.
Certain challenges to the country, such as overtourism, were also presented along with Greece’s involvement in bilateral, peripheral and international developments in the wider Mediterranean region, for example the Silk Road tourism initiative.
The country’s strategic plan for attracting new tourist investments was also presented aimed at upgrading existing infrastructures and increasing availability in order to respond, in a sustainable way, to the constantly rising demands of travellers, as well as to render Greek destinations more accessible for year-long tourists through the use of digital technology.
